The National Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention
Programme hosted a two-day Training Workshop for
Community Based Professionals in the area of Drug Abuse
Prevention at the NADAPP Secretariat, on the 5 & 6th of
February 2003.
The workshop was conducted under the auspices of the
Inter-American Children's Institute (IIN). This workshop
is part of the Third Stage of the Regional Project - the
Caribbean-wide Project on Drug Abuse Prevention and
Child-oriented Policies.
The target audience was State Professionals, Social
and Community workers as well as Community Leaders who
work in the field of Drug Prevention. It was provided to
further enhance their skill set and knowledge base in the
area of Drug Prevention work in communities.
Objectives
- To train twenty (20) Community-based
Professionals
- To equip Community-based Professionals with the
skills to train others
- To equip Community-based Professionals with the
capacity to develop school and/or community prevention
activities
- ß local prevention agencies in the
utilization of the participatory methodology of
education for Drug Abuse Prevention
- To enhance community-based technical resources in
the area of Drug Abuse Prevention in Trinidad &
Tobago.
