Seasonal Projects

Previous Campaigns

Campaigns at Christmas and Carnival were coordinated by NADAPP to coincide with the seasonality of these events.

Because of the high incidence of abuse of alcohol and other substances associated with these festivities, the following objectives guide these campaigns:

  • To sensitise groups about the negative consequences of alcohol use.
  • To stimulate alternatives to alcohol use.
  • To stimulate responsible thinking in terms of alcohol use.
  • To reduce the number of drug related incidences through more responsible behaviour.

Seasonal campaigns all have different themes in order to stimulate thought among the nation's population. For example, the theme of the Carnival Campaign for 2002 was:

Think before you drink

In June 2002, to commemorate United Nations International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the theme chosen was::

Substance abuse and HIV/AIDS

In solidarity with members of United Nations and as part of our public education and information dissemination efforts, NADAPP embarked on a 5-day project (22nd - 26th) in commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2002. The major features of the project and its outreach were:

  • newspaper advertisements
  • radio presentations
  • television interviews

Carnival Campaign 2003

This campaign was conducted during the period February 3 to March 5, 2003 and comprised the production and broadcast of a series of radio, television and print advertisements as well as special event activities.

The three (3) main objectives of the campaign were to:

  • sensitise the national community about the negative consequences of alcohol and other drugs consumption.
  • stimulate responsible thinking in terms of the use of alcohol and the other drugs.
  • reduce the number of drug-related incidents through more responsible behaviour.
