The National Drug Council
The National Drug Council is the body that links
agencies involved in both demand and supply reduction.
Its mandate is to:
- Monitor and evaluate the progress made during the
implementation of the National Drug Master Plan,
relative to both demand and supply reduction and make
appropriate recommendations.
- Advise Government on all related sectoral plans
and budgets for implementation of the projects,
programmes and interventions in the National Drug
Master Plan.
- Serve as a point of contact between demand and
supply reduction sectors locally, regionally and in
the hemisphere.
- Maintain a performance matrix of the
implementation of all plans of action to which
Trinidad and Tobago is obligated under various
international initiatives and advise Government
accordingly.
- Serve as the National Coordinating Entity (NCE)
for the Multilateral Evaluation Mechanism (MEM)
process as required by Inter American Drug Abuse
Control Commission (CICAD).
- Perform all other activities relevant to the
formulation, development, coordination and monitoring
of national strategies and plans against illegal
narcotics supply and demand.
