Today our country is plagued by a multiplicity of problems associated with Drug Abuse. Several of our citizens, particularly young people, are constantly falling captive to the deceptions of "pushers' and users". To counter these factors several State and Non-State agencies are deeply involved in dissuading persons from engaging in illegal drug activities and assisting those who have unfortunately become enmeshed in the delusion and fantasy of drug use.

The complex and changing nature of the illegal drug problem in Trinidad & Tobago today demands a national response, encompassing the full and active involvement of all sectors/institutions.

In addition to providing an on-line information service, this website intends on presenting a brief overview on the present situation in Trinidad and Tobago, with particular reference to the Drug Demand Reduction Strategy. Globally it has been recognized that Demand Reduction must be the new propelling force to spearhead the fight against the drug menace.

The Drugtel website will be updated by NADAPP on a regular basis and is intended to be one of the communicative tools to ensure focus and synchronicity among all stakeholders. It is my hope, that you would find this site informative, up to date on programmes/initiatives related to Demand Reduction, and easy to digest.

"Prevention is the first line of defence!"
